The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is looking for an enthusiastic Administration Officer to join our team and support the work of the Clinic. The role entails delivering exceptional customer service and ensuring the efficient and effective administration of client appointments, client data, claims processing, and specialist clinics. A high standard of service is paramount in this position.

Our Story:

The Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service which has been caring for the Broome community for more than 40 years. When we first opened our doors in 1978, BRAMS was the first remote Aboriginal Medical Service in Western Australia.

BRAMS provides comprehensive, holistic and culturally responsive primary health care, social and emotional wellbeing services, and NDIS support to Aboriginal people living in Broome. BRAMS delivers more than 40,000 occasions of service each year. BRAMS delivers services in accordance with our Model of Care.

Our mission is to provide holistic and culturally responsive health and wellbeing services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander People. That means making our Mob healthy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Undertake clinic receptionist duties, including making appointments and organising appointment information, meeting and greeting clients and visitors, answering telephone inquiries, maintaining waiting room hygiene, handling mail, and other administrative duties as required.
  • Coordinate patient registrations and maintain patient contact details.
  • Medicare item management and claims handling.
  • Maintain records in accordance with organisation policies and relevant legislation.

What You Will Bring to the Team:

To be successful in this role, you will have the following:

Essential Criteria

  • Certificate III in Health Administration or willingness to complete.
  • Previous experience within an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Service.

Desirable Criteria

  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to Aboriginal health, Aboriginal culture, and the philosophy and practice of Aboriginal Community Control.
  • Computer and word processing skills with demonstrated experience in using MS Officer package, email and the use of patient information/recall database systems.
  • A demonstrated ability to communicate, engage effectively and work together with, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with a focus on client focused outcomes
  • Demonstrated ability to organise workload with a high attention to detail.

Employment Screening:
