Our Opportunity
Fortescue is pleased to open applications for the 2025 Industrial Electrical Apprenticeship intake.
Work Location: Various mine sites across our Pilbara operations
Rosters: 7 days, 7 nights, 14 rest (2:2) or 8 days, 6 rest, 7 nights, 7 rest (8:6:7:7) FIFO: ex Perth, Karratha, Hedland, Broome and Busselton

What is offered:
- 4 years apprenticeship offered on a fly-in-fly-out (FIFO) basis
- Formal on-the-job training provided via coordinated rotations across operational sites
- Formal off-the-job training through TafeWA
- Completion of nationally recognised MEM31519 Certificate III Industrial Electrician
- Opportunity to apply for permanent employment in your trade at the completion of the apprenticeship
- Remuneration is above the award rate, and will reflect the working roster, work requirements, and training component of the program
About You:
- Must be 18 years or older by February 2025
- Must have a strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude, enjoy technical work and possess a high level of attention to detail
- The ability to work in remote locations across our operations on various FIFO rosters including night shift
- Must be team-orientated with a strong safety focus
- Demonstrate an alignment to our Fortescue Values
- Completion of an Electrical Pre-Apprenticeship (Certificate II in Electrotechnology) and/or other studies that support the pathway (highly regarded)
Our Process:
Step one: Submit your application – be sure to answer all the questions and provide as much information as possible. Please attach copies of all supporting documentation such as leader referrals, relevant certifications and/or qualifications to support and boost your application
Step two: If selected for the second stage, you will be required to complete psychometric and aptitude testing. Please ensure you keep your contact details current in our recruitment system and check your emails (including junk mail) regularly and complete these assessments within the allocated time frames.
Please note – the Electrical Trade requires a high level of mathematical aptitude. You can find examples online to prepare yourself for the assessment
Step three: Successful applicants will be contacted and invited to attend an Assessment Centre where they will meet and be assessed by Fortescue leaders to determine alignment to our company values and ability to work in a team. You must attend the Assessment Centre in person to be considered for the roles.
Step four: Applicants will be notified of the outcome in November 2024. Successful external applicants will be required to complete pre-employment checks and onboarding. The aim is to start all successful applicants in early February 2025.
