We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Chief Executive Officer to lead our organisation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the company’s operations, developing and implementing strategies to achieve organisational goals, and ensuring the company’s financial success.

We operate offices in both Kununurra and Broome, servicing urban and remote communities across the region.

 

The Role

As CEO, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight to ensure the successful delivery of our mission. You will collaborate with the Leadership Team to drive performance, build external partnerships, secure funding, and ensure operational excellence. This role involves representing KCLS in state and national forums, managing relationships with stakeholders, and fostering a supportive, empowering workplace culture.

 

Reporting to the Board, the CEO’s responsibilities include:

  • Implementing KCLS Strategic Plan and collaborating with the Board for organisational development. Drive the development and execution of KCLS’s Strategic Plan and explore new service initiatives and partnerships.
  • Developing and executing annual plans and budgets to achieve strategic goals. Oversee budgets, operations, and financial management to maintain efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identifying and implementing new services, projects, and partnerships to advance KCLS’s mission.
  • Building strong stakeholder relationships, engaging with the community, and developing funding sources. Strengthen relationships with government, funding bodies, and community partners to enhance KCLS’s profile.
  • Ensuring systems, assets, finances, and operations support KCLS objectives.
  • Secure and manage diverse funding sources to support KCLS’s sustainability and growth.
  • Representing KCLS in external forums and managing organisational communications.
  • Fostering a positive and empowering workplace culture. Lead an inclusive, collaborative workplace culture, empowering staff to reach their full potential.
  • Guiding the Leadership Team for high performance and cohesion. Guide the Leadership Team to ensure high performance and cohesion across a multidisciplinary team.
  • Attracting and retaining high-caliber staff through effective HR practices. Develop and implement staffing structures, recruitment strategies, and policies that effectively attract, and retain high caliber staff.
  • Ensuring KCLS’s legal, ethical, and risk management integrity. Ensure compliance with legal, ethical, and risk management standards, while supporting effective Board governance.

 

We are searching for those who can meet most of the following selection criteria:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and/or substantial relevant experience.
  • Strong understanding of social justice principles, community development, and experience working with Aboriginal communities.
  • Proven ability to manage strategic planning, financial operations, and policy development.
  • Experience in advocacy and policy reform with political awareness.
  • Skills in people management, leadership development, and fostering high-performing teams.
  • Ability to manage funding contracts and develop successful grant applications.
  • WA Police Clearance and a Working with Children Check are required.

 

Successful applicants will need to provide references, a recent WA Police Clearance, current Working with Children’s Check, and their working rights in Australia.
