About the Position:

We are seeking a Cleaner to join our team in Derby WA 6728 on a full time, permanent basis. The Cleaner position is responsible for providing and maintaining set standards of cleanliness and hygiene in the DAHS clinic and buildings in order to achieve a dust free and infection-controlled clinic.

 

About the Organisation:

Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. DAHS provide a wide range of innovative public health programs in addition to direct comprehensive primary health care services. It is required to comply with a number of Service Agreements with Commonwealth and State departments and agencies, and to operate with a number of government and private medical and health delivery organisations. The operating environment for ACCHS Australia-wide – has become increasingly complex and changeable in recent years and this is likely to continue.

 

 

Responsibilities include:

Some of your responsibilities are, but not limited to:

 

  • Sweep and wash vinyl floors (to be done before or after staff working hours)
  • Empty all rubbish bins (except yellow sharps bin) and replace liner
  • Clean and disinfect toilets and hand basins. Refill toilet paper, hand towels and soap as needed.
  • Damp dust furniture, cupboards and anything dusty
  • Spot clean walls especially in the treatment room, windows, all doors, waiting room chairs and rubbish bins
  • Clean and wipe water cooler, fill cup dispenser if required and remove any rubbish

 

About You:

To be considered for this position, you must address the selection criteria:

 

Essential

 

  • Strong organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines
  • Experience working unsupervised
  • National Police Clearance
  • Current C Class Drivers License
  • WA Working with Children Check

 

Desirable:

 

  • Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and the issues facing these organisations in the service delivery
  • COVID-19 Vaccinated
  • Experience working as a domestic cleaner in a hospital setting and environment. If limited experience, an enthusiastic motivated person willing to learn is encouraged

Pre-Employment Requirements:

 

  • Current C Class Drivers License
  • National Police Clearance
  • WA Working With Children Check

 

Responsibilities include:

The scope of this position will include, but is not limited to:

  • Stock toilet paper, hand towels, sanitiser and soap as needed
  • Damp dust furniture, appliances and cupboards
  • Removal of cobwebs and insect droppings
  • Spot clean walls, windows,skirting, chairs, light switches and doors etc
  • Check and wash linen when necessary
  • Clean clinical basins and sinks
  • Wash bed screen
