The Role

The Intensive Family Support team works with parents and care givers of children where there are serious concerns about their safety and wellbeing. The team works alongside families to develop strategies, skills and plans to keep their children home, in their community and prevent them from coming into care.

In child protection work, the breadth of responsibilities is wide ranging and there is no such thing as a typical day. In this position, you will:

  • Use the Intensive Family Support approach to provide intensive in-home support services and case management for Aboriginal children.
  • Ensure that the services are provided in line with a case plan, and are responsive to the cultural needs of the family.
  • Undertake complex field work duties and deliver services in accordance with departmental legislation, policies and procedures.
