Aboriginal Family Legal Services (ICN 7333) aims to provide free, culturally secure, legal and support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence and/or sexual assault.
Aboriginality is a genuine occupational qualification and is identified under Section 50(D) of the Equal Employment Opportunity Act. AFLS seeks to recruit an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander into this position.
We are seeking a full-time Community Engagement Worker (50d Position) in our Broome office on Djugan-Yawuru country.
Who are Aboriginal Family Legal Services (AFLS):
AFLS is an Aboriginal controlled not-for-profit organisation that provides both legal and non-legal support to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander victims and survivors of family violence. Our services are delivered in the Kimberly, Pilbara, Mid-west, Goldfields, and Perth Metropolitan.
About the role:
The Community Engagement role forms a liaison between victims of Aboriginal family violence and the services provided by AFLS. You will work with our legal team to ensure that our clients are receiving culturally secure legal assistance. You will also be working within the community to build awareness of our service and deliver educational programs. There is also regular travel and short trips to surrounding communities.
Skill areas:
- Experience with community engagement.
- Connections with local stakeholders.
- Skills to host community programs and education sessions.
- Ability to travel and do short trips to surrounding communities.
- Computer skills with Microsoft office and case management data basis.
- Experience working with victims and survivors of family violence.
What you need:
- Current WA Driver’s License.
- Current Federal Police Clearance (less than 6 months old).
- Working with Children’s Check.
Employment Information:
- Monday to Friday.
- 8:30am to 4:30pm.
- District and flight allowances.
- 5 weeks annual leave.
- Salary Sacrifice of $15,899.00 per annum.
- Employee support services including EAP and an internal AFLS counsellor.
