Deckhand – Coxwains

Willie Cruises is a family-owned business operating the iconic Willie, a commercial charter vessel with over three decades of adventures and charters. Willie is a 67-foot gaff-rigged schooner, a faithful reproduction of a traditional pearl lugger from the early 1900’s.

Operating in Perth and Broome, Willie is renowned for offering exceptional experiences and impeccable service in two of Western Australia’s most well-known destinations. The vessel charters sunset cruises in Broome from April to October and daily sails at Rottnest Island from November to March. Willie accommodates three crew members and up to 30 passengers onboard.

Position:

We are seeking a qualified and experienced deckhand to join our team for a seasonal contract.

This role will require applicants to operate 5 days a week (depending on the days of operation).

As a deckhand, you will be responsible for daily operational tasks, maintaining the cleanliness of the vessel, providing bar service, conducting stock takes of merchandise and bar inventory, and restocking beverages and merchandise.

Crew members will uphold the highest standards of safety, communication, customer service, and reliability

Essential Criteria:

• Coxswains
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA)
• First Aid Certificate
• Driver’s License
• Hospitality/tourism industry experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Working/coordinating with team members in a professional manner
• Stock takes experience
• Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols
• Carrying out any additional duties as assigned by the skipper
• High standard of customer service
• Assisting passenger transfers

Desired criteria:

• Knowledge of Broome
• Guiding experience
• Sense of adventure
• Previous sailing experience
• Bus license / willing to be a bus driver with additional company payment
• Passenger transport driver authorisation (can apply after accepting offer)
• Experience working with POS systems and Eftpos
• Currently living/based in Broome (accommodation is not offered within this position)
