About the Position:
The Driver position is responsible for providing transportation services for DAHS clients to and from the DAHS Clinic including Derby Hospital for appointments. The driver will assist with community liaison, advocacy and medication delivery.
About the Organisation:
Derby Aboriginal Health Service (DAHS) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service (ACCHS) providing holistic primary health care services to the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in Derby and surrounding communities. DAHS provide a wide range of innovative public health programs in addition to direct comprehensive primary health care services. It is required to comply with a number of Service Agreements with Commonwealth and State departments and agencies, and to operate with a number of government and private medical and health delivery organisations. The operating environment for ACCHS Australia-wide – has become increasingly complex and changeable in recent years and this is likely to continue.
About You:
To be considered for this position, you must address the selection criteria:
- Strong organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines
- Demonstrate knowledge of Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services (ACCHS) and the issues facing these organisations in the service delivery
- Highly developed interpersonal skills including negotiation and consultation skills
- Understanding and appreciation of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture and the ability to effectively communicate
- Commitment to the principles of Aboriginal Community Control Health Services (ACCHS)
- Well developed time management skills
- Demonstrates good understanding of cultural safety
- Knowledge of statutory requirements and safe driving standards
- Knowledge of vehicle maintenance
- High level integrity in maintaining patient and organisational confidentiality
Desirable:
- Previous experience as a driver or equivalent
- Experience in using electronic patient information systems and databases within the primary health care setting e.g., MMEx.
- Experience working in an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service.
- Knowledge of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander family groups in Derby and surroundings
Pre-Employment Requirements:
- National Police Clearance
- First Aid Certificate (Basic Life Support)
- Current C Class Drivers License
- PTD Check
- WA Working With Children Check
Responsibilities include:
The scope of this position will include, but is not limited to:
- Provide transport and liaise with DAHS clients for appointments, recalls and follow-ups, medication delivery and specialist appointments
- Provide safe provision when transporting clients
- Utilise your time management skills efficiently to ensure clients are provided transport at the appropriate times
- Facilitate and manage ongoing communication with clients to notify of appointments, recalls and follow-up details
- complete pick up’s, drop off’s and delivery’s as required
- Maintain statistics of client,medication and pathology transportation
- Responsible of the delivery of client medications on a scheduled basis and as required
- Liaison with reception and clinical client services daily
