About The Role

We currently have opportunities available in our Engineering Associate Program to offer recent graduates who have completed their Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Design or Advanced Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering at a Western Australian TAFE.

Applications will be considered for current students who will be completing their Advanced Diploma by July 2024 for our mid-year intake, or December 2024 for our 2025 intake..

This is a three-year rotational program, providing practical learning experiences in a range of specialist areas.  The rotations are based on your strengths, skills, and interest within business needs and will include the choice of a 12-month placement at our Materials Engineering Branch or a 12-month rotation in one of our regional locations.

Fast track your experience and immerse yourself in how our engineering projects impact our communities.

We offer a well-structured rotation plan and formal training to support your development. On completing the Engineering Associate program, you will be offered a permanent position in the organisation.

To be considered for our Engineering Associate Program, you must:

  • Be a recent TAFE graduate (within 3 years from completion of your Advanced Diploma) or have your Advanced Diploma completed by July 2024 for our mid-year intake, or December 2024 for our 2025 intake.
  • Be motivated to work at Main Roads, demonstrated through your strengths and personal attributes
  • Have a career interest in materials engineering; or working in regional areas
  • Have strong problem solving skills, including embracing change and challenge
  • Be great at working together in teams
  • Be able to build relationships with stakeholders

Please submit the following documentation in your application:

  • A copy of your completed Advanced Diploma in Civil Construction Design or Advanced Diploma in Civil and Structural Engineering. Applicants that are currently completing their studies are to submit their most current academic results.
  • Your CV
  • A copy of your current WA motor vehicle (car) Driver’s Licence (or approved equivalent)
  • A cover letter outlining why you would like to be an Engineering Associate at Main Roads, highlighting your skills and abilities relevant to the role.

Please ensure your cover letter does not exceed two (2) pages.

Successful applicants will need to complete a pre-employment medical assessment and national police clearance prior to appointment.

Eligibility to Apply.

For permanent appointment to the Western Australian Public Sector, you need to be an Australian citizen, or have permanent resident status in Australia.
