About the Position:

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced candidate to join the Shire of Broome in the role of Environmental Team Leader.

The Environmental Team Leader will be responsible for the maintenance and scheduling of works for the environmental crew, including environmental projects.

Please note there is operational work required, including weed control, tree planting, arboriculture work, drain slashing, and maintenance works within the Parks Department, as directed by the Streetscapes Supervisor.

This is a Permanent full-time position working 40 hours per week, with fortnightly RDO accruals.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum 5 years experience in the Parks and Gardens industry leading small teams


  • Well developed knowledge of Environmental management practices (Arboriculture, weed management, slashing maintenance, Machine operation and maintenance. Elevated work program experience).
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, schedule and deliver desired environmental management outcomes for small teams.
  • Excellent verbal and sound written communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and interpret environmental procedures and practices to deliver the desired environmental management.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health, Equal Opportunity legislation and policies.

Qualifications and/ or Training:

  • Current unrestricted MR class national driver’s license.
  • Certificate of Competency – Tractors, slashing equipment, EWP.
  • White Card.
  • Worksite traffic management qualification.
  • Chainsaw Ticket
  • Certificate 2 in Rural operations or Certificate 2 in Horticulture


  • Experience in Local Government.
  • Senior First Aid Certificate.
  • Local knowledge of the Broome area and conditions.
