About The Role

Reporting to the Executive General Manager, Marine and Aviation, the General Manager is responsible for strategic leadership and overseeing the day-to-day operations of this seasonal business.

The General Manager is responsible for leading and managing the success of the business end to end, with full P&L responsibility. You will be an accomplished leader and an agent for change, with an ability to positively influence and effect continuous improvement. You see a business through the people, through the numbers, but mostly, through the experience of our guests. You will also build strong regional relationships in the local community and add value to the tourism sector. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the business and its people continue to deliver operational excellence.

This is a full-time position based in Broome with frequent travel to the Horizontal Falls pontoon operations as required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Achievement and proactive management of the guest satisfaction index “Net Promoter Score” (NPS)
  • Achieving or exceeding the key financial objectives of the business, with a focus on revenue delivery through yield optimisation and EBITDA conversion through efficiencies
  • Maintain mutually successful and well cultivated relationships with key stakeholders including Government agencies and regulators, Traditional Owners, and other operators to derive ongoing benefit
  • Ensure the consistent delivery of the business’s products with the highest standards, ensuring that the business is recognised as a market leader in experiential tourism and memorable guest experiences
  • Manage the effective maintenance, performance and productivity of the marine and land-based asset base
  • Collaborate with the Aviation CEO to ensure optimum access and visitation to the Horizontal Falls during the season

About You

You will have a passion to travel and a love for sharing unique and iconic experiences through the delivery of an exceptional product.   • Demonstrated experience in the provision of tourism products extending to tour scheduling and itinerary delivery, accommodation and food & beverage operations
  • Extensive experience in general management with an understanding of the importance in maintaining infrastructure and assets
  • Deep understanding of tourism, hospitality, and remote high-end product offerings
  • Marine accreditation as a Master or MED considered an asset
  • 7-10 years’ experience in a senior operations management position, preferably within the hospitality, travel, or tourism industry
  • A collaborative management style, with the ability to coach and mentor managers to achieve the shared business goals and engage their teams effectively
  • Be highly organised, detail oriented and able to solve complex problems
  • Experience leading a team with a diverse skill base and managing complex operational challenges
  • Demonstrated expertise in financial management and exposure to revenue management
  • Comfortable in interacting with internal and external stakeholders
  • High degree of professionalism, resilience, and accountability
  • Leads by example and exemplifies Journey Beyond values and ways of working
  • Effective communicator that establishes open channels between Broome, Pontoon Operations and the corporate and shared service teams
