THE OPPORTUNITY
TAMS is recruiting for a construction HSE Advisor to work on a new long-term project in Broome, WA.
You should be an experienced professional in heavy industry with strong communication skills that assist you to effectively engage with a wide range of stakeholders and to foster effective outcomes for the business.
Join our project team in a pivotal role, reporting to the Project Manager, where you will have direct accountability for the safe and efficient execution of the work scope.
More broadly, the role will interface directly with the client, internal functional teams and local community groups and will ensure that works are undertaken in direct compliance with our WHS related statutory obligations, our contractual arrangements and with a range of Project Environmental Approval conditions.
You will be:
- An effective communicator, particularly in providing expert advice to various internal and external stakeholders, and in seeking and providing feedback;
- Committed to building rapport and meaningful relationships with the Project Team, the Client, with internal Senior Leaders, with key community groups and with our subcontractor base.
- Confident with writing and updating technical procedures relating to Safety, Risk and Environmental Management
- Sensible, objective and diligent where provided opportunities to learn – such as during internal assurance (audit) programs and during incident investigations; and
- Proactive in taking a holistic approach to HSE and the contexts in which we work in our industry.
To be considered for this role, it is essential that you have:
- A Construction Safety Induction (white card)
- A Certificate IV, diploma or degree in OHS, HSE or WHS, or similar discipline
- Minimum 5 years of relevant HSE experience in heavy construction and have ideally worked in the north-west of WA
- Experience conducting workplace inspections and working with critical risk management programs
- Lead ICAM workplace incident investigations
- The ability to facilitate risk assessment workshops with key local stakeholders
- Experience supporting health and hygiene awareness and management programs specific to the Northwest
- Experience in technical writing, including to develop new safe work procedures, safe work method statements, and safe work instructions
- Ability to facilitate both internal and external business HSE reporting and the communication of identified trends to the project leadership team
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following:
- Experience with undertaking environmental monitoring, testing and recording that data in compliance with project approval conditions
- Experience aligning project teams with cultural heritage protocols and working with local stakeholders uphold cultural heritage values
- Prior experience/exposure working as or with marine fauna observers (MFO’s) and working with external stakeholders to mitigate marine fauna interactions
- Ability to coordinate fitness for work initiatives, including drug and alcohol testing
What will set you apart is experience in maritime construction and/or oil & gas industry, you will have active site-based experience and currently be based in Perth, Karratha, Port Headland or Broome.
TAMS are offering an above industry remuneration for this role, working on either a 2:2, 1:1 roster or the successful candidate may be offered relocation to Broome for the project duration.
