About the role
The Jump Start Program Facilitator is responsible for supporting the delivery of engaging, culturally appropriate learning and development activities for participants with diverse needs, learning styles and abilities. Working under the supervision of the Youth & Community Services Manager, the role supports participants to build skills in literacy, numeracy, life skills and vocational pathways through tailored learning resources, practical assistance, coaching and referral support.
The position works collaboratively with the Youth and Community Services team to improve participant outcomes, maintain accurate records, support staff training needs, and contribute to the development and delivery of alternative learning programs aligned with NAC’s vision, policies and service standards.
Key responsibilities
- Assess participant learning needs and deliver appropriate support to a range of participants with different learning styles, abilities and literacy, numeracy and life skills goals.
- Support participants to understand and complete coursework, practical documents and everyday written tasks, including forms, letters, resumes and other relevant materials.
- Develop and implement current, relevant and engaging teaching resources and practices that support participant engagement, individual learning needs and pathway outcomes.
- Develop, review and moderate assessment tools and strategies to support consistent and appropriate learning outcomes.
- Work collaboratively with the Youth & Community Services team to support participant engagement, progression and positive outcomes.
- Maintain accurate participant attendance, contact records and other program documentation in line with organisational requirements.
- Identify participant support needs and refer eligible participants to the Youth & Community Services team or relevant service providers for guidance, social and emotional wellbeing support and other appropriate assistance.
- Work with the Youth & Community Services Manager to deliver staff training aligned with individual training plans and provide ongoing coaching where required.
- Work with the Youth & Community Services Manager to develop and deliver an alternative learning program that aligns with NAC’s vision, service standards and participant needs.
- Comply with the NAC Code of Conduct, organisational policies and procedures, and all relevant legislative and regulatory requirements.
About you
- Currently possess a Certificate IV Training & Assessor or other relevant training qualification
- Experience in presenting, teaching or facilitating workshops/educational programs to school aged youth
- Outstanding relationship development and communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Impeccable time management and organisational skills
- Solid administration skills with great attention to detail and ability to follow processes.
- Sound understanding of Compliance, Regulatory and Quality Framework processes and requirements
- Experience presenting workshops or information sessions to groups
- Knowledge of computer systems required to record data including data bases, excel spreadsheet and word documents.
- Driver’s Licence
- Working With Children Check – current or ability to obtain
- Police check – current or ability to obtain
