Under the shade of boab trees sits One Tree Derby Children’s Service. This service is very connected to the Derby community and school, taking part in local festivals and providing a school readiness program in the final term. You’ll join a service that offers a nursery, toddlers, and kindy room. Along with Out of School Hours Care and vacation care. You’ll use child-led approaches as daily inspiration.

This position and you

You know all about the NQS and the frameworks. You are an amazing leader and a great educator. But you understand this role is not just about you. It is about supporting your director and your team. You mentor, you coach, you help. You do what it takes to deliver a fantastic curriculum, and you are developing skills that one day will have you being the director of your own centre.  
 
You will be a responsible person at the service.

Selection criteria

• Minimum two (2) years’ experience in a room leader role or above
• Strong leadership and team management skills
• Deep understanding of the EYLF and NQS
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with children, families, and team members
• Develop and implement educational programs tailored to children’s interests, strengths, and needs
• Experience in observation, documentation, and reflection to improve learning outcomes
• Adaptability and flexibility in responding to changing needs and challenges
• Strong organisational skills, ensuring smooth daily operations and effective time management
• Commitment to continuous professional development and staying updated on industry trends and best practices
• Create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports the emotional and developmental needs of all children
• Conflict resolution and problem-solving skills to manage challenges calmly and effectively

Requirements

• Eligible to work in Australia and willing to relocate to Derby
• Hold a Diploma in Early Childhood/ACECQA approved equivalent
• Current WA Working with Children Check
• Satisfactory National Police Clearance dated within 6 months
• Current First aid and CPR
