ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Project Officer plays an active and vital role in the coordination and delivery of a regionally based native title service to Traditional Owners throughout the Kimberley. This position works closely with other KLC units and Traditional Owner groups especially in relation to post determination support, compliance and advancement.

The position operates out of Broome KLC office with occasional travel in the Kimberley.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Projects

·         – Work in consultation with the Region and Unit managers and KLC legal practitioners to manage and progress native title determination applications, Registered Native Body Corporate (RNTBC) activities and related projects

·         – Develop project work plans and budgets for native title determination applications and related projects including RNTBC projects.

·         – Manage, monitor and report on the implementation and progress of work plans and budgets.

·         – Utilise tools and checklists to manage projects

·         – Work as part of a collaborative team across Legal, NTSU and all of KLC.

·         – Arrange Native Title meetings in accordance with Native Title processes, including general logistics, notifications, accommodation, transport, and venues.

·         – Prepare reports on the performance of regional projects and budgets, including the collection and preparation of project output reporting information for the KLC Board and Native Title Representative Body (NTRB) Annual Report. Work with internal/external stakeholders Liaise with relevant external agencies on native title determination applications and related projects and ensure all team members are kept informed.

·         – Maintain files and records and manage and control KLC assets within the position’s scope

·         – Develop and maintain effective working relationships with Traditional Owners and other Aboriginal people in the Kimberley region.

·           – Ensure adherence to all finance and procurement policies or contractual agreements.

·         – Comply with all internal KLC policies and procedures and ensure the team’s adherence

·         – Demonstrate an awareness of and commitment to the KLC Vision and its Values.

Other

·         – Coordinate and carry out all the tasks of the position including administration, management and liaising with external and internal stakeholders, as required

·       – Other tasks as directed by authorised KLC personnel or representatives

 

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

Essential

·       – Cert III or IV Business Administration or relevant work experience

·       – Excellent verbal and written communication

·       – Well organised and able to meet deadlines

·       – Initiative and self-starter

·       – Current drivers’ licence

 

Desirable

·        –  First Aid Certificate
