Willie Cruises is a family-owned business operating the iconic Willie, a commercial charter vessel with over three decades of adventures and charters. Willie is a 67-foot gaff-rigged schooner, a faithful reproduction of a traditional pearl lugger from the early 1900’s.

Operating in Perth and Broome, Willie is renowned for offering exceptional experiences and impeccable service in two of Western Australia’s most well-known destinations. The vessel charters sunset cruises in Broome from April to October and daily sails at Rottnest Island from November to March. Willie accommodates three crew members and up to 30 passengers onboard.

Position: We are currently seeking a Vessel Master V for a seasonal contract position to join our team. This role requires experience, motivation, enthusiasm, and flexibility to meet the operational demands of the business.

As the Master, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations and navigation of the vessel. Your duties will also include processing catering orders, and restocking beverages and goods. Additionally, you will coordinate crew schedules and ensure that the crew maintains the cleanliness of the vessel and conduct regular stocktakes of merchandise and bar inventory. All crew members will be expected to uphold the highest standards of safety, communication, customer service, reliability.

Essential Criteria:

  • Master Class V
  • Marine Engine Grade (II)
  • Maritime Identification Security Card (MISC)
  • Management of a licenced premises
  • Driver’s License
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Experience as a skipper in the Broome
  • Excellent communication skills
  • High standard of customer service
  • Hospitality/tourism industry experience
  • Working/coordinating with team members
  • Professionalism
  • Demonstrate leadership skills
  • Stock takes experience
  • Ensuring strict adherence to safety protocols
  • Assisting passenger transfers

  • Guiding experience
  • Knowledge of Broome
  • Sense of adventure
  • Previous experience managing & leading crew
  • Previous sailing experience
  • Bus license / willing to be a bus driver with additional company payment
  • Passenger transport driver authorisation (can apply after accepting offer)
  • Currently living/based in Broome (accommodation is not offered within this position)
