Broome Regional Aboriginal Medical Service (BRAMS) is a well-established Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation that has been supporting the Broome community for over 40 years. Headquartered in Broome, Western Australia, BRAMS provides holistic, culturally safe primary healthcare, aged care, and community programs to Aboriginal people throughout the Kimberley region.

About the Role

BRAMS is recruiting multiple full-time Social Workers based in Broome, WA, across both aged care and disability (NDIS) programs. Based on your experience, interests, and strengths, you will be supported to work within the team where you can make the greatest impact – whether that’s supporting older people through life transitions or working alongside individuals with disability to build independence and community connection.

In both streams, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team delivering holistic, person-centred care that supports individuals, families, and community across all stages of life. Success in these roles comes from building trust, listening deeply, and empowering people to make their own choices in a way that respects their culture, values, and lived experience.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Delivering person-centred social work services across your program area.
• Conducting psychosocial assessments to understand social, emotional, and functional needs.
• Developing care or support plans in partnership with individuals, families, and carers.
• Providing counselling and emotional support around grief, loss, mental health, ageing, and/or disability.
• Supporting individuals to build capacity, independence, and participation in community life.
• Facilitating group programs and individual sessions that strengthen wellbeing and connection.
• Supporting individuals and families through important life transitions with care and sensitivity.
• Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and community partners to deliver integrated support.
• Maintaining accurate case notes and documentation in line with program requirements

 

 

About You

To be successful in either role, you must address the following selection criteria in your cover letter. Please also indicate in your application which stream Aged Care, NDIS, or both you are applying for.

Essential (both streams)

• A Degree in Social Work (or equivalent), and current (or eligible) membership with the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
• Demonstrated experience working in aged care, disability, mental health, or community services.
• A strong foundation in person-centred and culturally safe practice.
• Experience providing counselling and psychosocial support across complex life situations.
• Experience supporting individuals and families through grief, loss, disability, or major life transitions.
• Ability to develop and implement person-centred care or support plans.
• Experience working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience in remote, regional, or Aboriginal community settings (highly regarded).
• Understanding of and commitment to culturally safe practice within an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Service.

Additionally valued for the Aged Care stream

• Sound understanding of the aged care system, including relevant legislation, standards, and care planning frameworks.
• Experience providing support around end-of-life care, ageing, and older person wellbeing.

Additionally valued for the NDIS stream

• Sound understanding of the NDIS framework, including support planning and participant capacity building.
• Current or willingness to obtain a NDIS Worker Screening Check.
