Tow Truck Operator

King Tide Towing is a small family owned and run business offering towing, recovery and transport services to Broome and the Kimberley region, including the Dampier Peninsula and Gibb River Road,  as well as providing towing services to the WA police. We are in search of a tilt tray tow operator to join the small team. The position is permanent, full time, and will include some on-call evening and weekends, as well as an extended on-call period each year to cover employee leave. We are looking for someone long-term.


Tasks and Responsibilities

The role will consist mostly of towing vehicles, plant and shipping containers, and basic roadside assistance. Other general yard work and basic vehicle maintenance will be required as well as operational tasks such as answering phone calls, invoicing and emails. Towing experience is not necessary, however recent truck driving experience is required. Most work will be performed with an MR truck, however willingness to attain an HR licence as HR work will also be required once trained. The successful applicant will be required to be available to work at least 1 weekday evening a month, and 1 weekend out of every 3 as part of the roster.


Skills and experience

  • MR or HR manual drivers licence with good driving history
  • Mechanically minded
  • Ideally off-road/remote area work and driving experience
  • Friendly and positive attitude with great customer service skills
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as in a small team
  • Ability to follow instructions and protocols
  • Computer literacy with emails, spreadsheets and MYOB
  • Clear National Police certificate and ability to undergo WA police integrity checks and drug and alcohol screening as we work closely with WA Police
  • Work in a safe manner with good judgement and decision-making skills
  • Understanding of the Load Restraint Guide for safe loading
  • Willingness to perform other work asked of you that is within your skills and abilities
  • Willingness and flexibility to be on-call last minute, particularly in the dry season


Possible further remuneration for the successful applicant that has other relevant beneficial skills



Above award wage – base salary of $70,000 to $80,000 depending on experience plus additional pay for call-back hours

5 weeks annual leave

Uniforms provided

Primary work hours typically between 7:30am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday
