Are you an experienced automotive professional ready to take the next step in your career? GN Mechanical & Automotive Broome is seeking a Workshop Manager / Leading Hand to oversee daily workshop operations while maintaining hands-on involvement in servicing, repairs, and diagnostics.

About the Role:

This is a leadership position for a skilled mechanic who can manage workflow, mentor technicians, and uphold service excellence. You’ll ensure the smooth operation of our new workshop while delivering top-tier service for 4WDs, fleet vehicles, and general automotive repairs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee workshop operations, team productivity, and job scheduling.
  • Lead and mentor a team of mechanics, fostering a positive, high-performing environment.
  • Perform servicing, repairs, and diagnostics on a variety of vehicles.
  • Work closely with the Managing Operations and Admin team to ensure seamless daily operations.
  • Manage inventory, parts ordering, and supplier coordination.
  • Handle customer interactions, inquiries, and complaint resolution.
  • Monitor KPIs such as turnaround time, revenue, and customer satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations and manufacturer guidelines.

  • Australian Recognised Trade Certificate, i.e Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology (minimum 5 years’ experience in Australia).
  • Proven leadership experience or readiness to step into a managerial role.
  • C Class Driver’s License.
  • Strong mechanical and diagnostic expertise.
  • Ability to manage a fast-paced workshop, delegate tasks, and lead a team effectively.
  • Confidence in customer service, complaint handling, and workshop coordination.
  • National Police Clearance (or willingness to obtain).
  • Intermediate computer skills (MS Office, automotive software preferred).

Highly Advantageous:

  • Heavy vehicle experience.
  • Hybrid & EV experience.
  • Forklift license.
  • Air Conditioning License.
  • Strong diagnostic background.

This is a full-time, ongoing role with a negotiable salary based on experience.
