The Strategic Volunteer and Youth Programs Team and the Kimberley Regional Team are looking for a Youth Programs Officer to support delivery of the Youth in Emergency Services (YES) program in the Kimberley region.

This Youth Programs Officer position supports emergency services youth programs and initiatives, with a focus on the Kimberley region, to increase community resilience and the transition of young people into emergency services volunteering.

The YES program is a community-based cadet program that aims to build young people’s skills, knowledge and understanding of volunteer emergency services, the hazards in their communities and how best to respond to them.

We are looking for someone to start ASAP until end of the year with potential extension.

This is a casual-based paid position working from the DFES Broome Regional Office for 15 hours a week.

The successful applicant will need to be available Tuesday afternoon; 4:30 – 6:00 for training, with flexibility available around the additional work hours. (for example school hours!)

All adults require a Working with Children Check and a current Criminal History Check.

Some travel across the Kimberley region may be required.

$45 + Super hour

 

ROLE:

  • Support and coordinate volunteers
  • Connect with volunteers
  • Liaise with St John / WA Police /DFES and other State and Local Government bodies
  • Administration / data entry / emails / phones

REQUIRED:

 

  • Working with children check / or able to get ASAP
  • National Police Clearance
  • Experience in emergency services and working with young people is preferred
  • Lovely people skills, quick to learn and intermediate MS Office / computer skills
  • Permanent Residency / Visa that allows you to work past 6 months
  • Available Tuesday evenings 4:30 – 6:00pm (the rest of the hours are up to you!)
