About the role:

To support our growth, we are seeking a Spray Painter’s Assistant with relevant industry experience to join our Broome base. You will assist the Spray Painter with day-to-day activities associated with spray painting and housekeeping activities, including preparation, masking, paint finishing as required and final demask and clean-up of aircraft and hangar.

 

Key Duties and responsibilities of the role include:

Under the guidance of the Spray Painter:

– You will understand and interpret the technical manuals within the surface preparation and finishing scope

–  Maintain a clean and safe working environment

–  Carry out surface preparation including paint stripping, sanding, masking, paint preparation and equipment clean-up

Other duties Include:

  • Actively participate in all on the job training and company directed training
  • Maintain a current knowledge of paint finishing systems
  • Maintain aircraft support equipment
  • Adhere to company tool control procedures
  • Safe and responsible operations of company equipment, assets, and vehicles
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including the Safety Management System and Civil Aviation Regulations
  • Other duties as directed by the Spray Painter or Senior Base Engineer

 

To be successful in this role:

  • Previous motor trade finishing experience is desirable
  • The willingness to learn and apply what is learned and demonstrate a can-do attitude
  • Possess a demonstrated mechanical aptitude that includes a general understanding of the workings of mechanical systems
  • Strong time management skills and ability to take direction and work cooperatively as part of a professional and close-knit team
  • Have a high degree of attention to detail
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Working Safely at Height Certificate
  • The physical ability to undertake duties including lifting heavy items and standing for long periods in hot and humid conditions
  • Hold a current “C” class motor vehicle driver’s licence
  • Ability to obtain and maintain ASIC
