About the Position:

The Waste Education Officer will be responsible for the following:

  • To support the Shire’s adherence to the State Waste Avoidance and Resource Recovery Strategy 2030 and associated Action Plan.
  • To plan, prepare and implement waste education programs that facilitate environmentally sustainable outcomes associated with better resource recovery and waste management practices
  • To assist with the contract administration of waste management services to ensure performance standards are met.
  • To prepare, coordinate and implement waste related projects

This is a permanent part time position 20 hours per week, with the opportunity for additional hours of work. No weekend work required and flexible working hours available. Ideal for parents with school-aged children to suit your work/life balance.

About You:

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Ability to work independently and in a busy team environment.
  • Strong verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with a diverse range of stakeholders and form effective working relationships
  • Experience in presenting to schools and community groups on waste education matters.
  • Experience in preparation of resource recovery and waste education materials.
  • Experience in the delivery of waste education/waste management or behavioural change programmes.
  • Understanding of resource recovery, waste management, climate change, sustainability and circular economy principles and issues.
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills, an the ability to manage competing priorities
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and outlook.
