ABOUT THE POSITION

We are thrilled to offer an exciting entry-level opportunity as a Water Services Trainee based in Broome. This position is perfect for motivated individuals who are looking for a new career path and are eager to learn, grow, and make a positive impact in remote communities. As a Water Services Trainee, you will have the chance to work alongside experienced professionals, gaining valuable hands-on experience while supporting our vital water treatment systems.

The Water Services Trainee role will involve learning and assisting with the cyclic maintenance of water disinfection and treatment systems as well as water sampling and other technical support as required for the water quality programme. You will be part of a dedicated and highly skilled team responsible for ensuring that water systems maintain necessary quality and compliance with regulatory requirements.

The skills you will be trained in are (but not limited to): 

  • Monitor and operate liquefied chlorine gas disinfection processes
  • Operators mandatory chlorine training. Certification provided.
  • Effectively operate, maintain and repair water filtration systems including equipment training
  • Diagnose faults and causes of malfunction.
  • Prepare and maintain logbooks, record keeping and reporting as required
  • Water disinfection
  • Potable water sampling
  • Operate Breathing apparatus
  • Confined space entry

To be considered you must have the following:

Your ability to demonstrate a high work ethic, integrity, and safe work practices together with your positive mindset in dealing with work and people will be highly regarded.

  • Trade qualification or experience in water industry
  • Minimum C class driver’s licence (LR preferable)
  • A strong willingness to learn and work as part of a team in remote and sometimes isolating environments.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and procedures effectively.
  • A genuine interest in water treatment services, with a desire to contribute to the improvement of essential service infrastructure in remote Indigenous communities.
  • Physical fitness and the ability to adapt to physically demanding tasks required to effectively perform the role.

Location

The role will start be based of Broome time required in Broome would be much greater during the training period however travel required to remote Aboriginal Communities in the Kimberley.  Accommodation is provided by the Company when travelling for work purposes.

Local Kimberley residents are most suited and encouraged to apply as are candidates who are interested in relocating to the Broome region.
