About the Project

Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role

We are looking for Manager Process Operations to oversee our plant operations in the West Kimberley. Living in the West Kimberley, this leadership role is based on a 4-day on, 3-day off drive-in drive-out roster to the Thunderbird operation and is responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and environmentally responsible operations while driving continuous improvement and achieving production targets. The successful candidate will lead a team of superintendents in processing, maintenance, metallurgy, and engineering, fostering an inclusive work environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee plant operations, ensuring adherence to safety, efficiency, and environmental standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to meet or exceed production targets and manage budgets effectively.
  • Develop and maintain an inclusive work environment, ensuring open communication and employee development opportunities.
  • Provide comprehensive reports on plant activities to upper management.
  • Uphold and promote the company’s core values, leading by example.

 

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in mineral processing or a related field, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
  • A strong understanding of environmental regulations and safety standards in the mining industry.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • A current WA C-Class driver’s license.
