Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role

Residing in the West Kimberley and reporting to the Superintendent Maintenance, this is an exciting opportunity for a Supervisor – Mechanical to join our growing mining company.

This role is responsible for leading a team of trades people to deliver planned and corrective maintenance safely and efficiently. This is a front-line leadership position, providing technical support and advice to the Maintenance Team.

Site based roster: 8 days on, 6 days off

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide active field leadership, mentoring and guiding the team
  • Ensure the safe execution of all planned and unplanned activities within quality, time and budget requirements
  • Operate in accordance with KMS Work Management and Shutdown Management processes, ensuring collaboration with other teams
  • Complete detailed shift logs and handovers for the incoming shift supervisor
  • Develop and lead executable maintenance scopes and schedules aligned with Process Plant Maintenance strategies and life of asset planning

 

About You

  • Hold a current WA C-Class driver’s licence
  • Hold a Mechanical Trade Certificate, or relevant industry experience
  • Completion of S1, S2, S3 course would be advantageous
  • Experience in managing people and creating a work environment that enables communication, collaboration and engagement
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills to effectively convey daily priorities and action plans
  • Proficient fault-finding and problem solving skills, with a can-do attitude
  • Knowledge of the Mine Safety & Inspection Act and Regulations would be advantageous
  • Experience with maintenance planning/scheduling with CMMS systems, preferably SAP
