About the Project

Kimberley Mineral Sands Pty Ltd (KMS) is a 50/50 joint venture between Sheffield Resources Limited and YGH Australia Investment Pty Ltd (Yansteel). The Thunderbird Mineral Sands Project (Thunderbird) is located mid-way between Derby and Broome, in the Kimberley region of Western Australia.

Thunderbird is one of the largest and highest-grade zircon mineral sands deposits in the world and contains valuable heavy minerals including ilmenite, zircon, leucoxene, and rutile, which are extracted and exported via the Port of Broome.

About the Role

Reporting to the Contracts Specialist, this is an exciting opportunity for a Purchasing Officer to join our growing mining company.

This role is responsible for coordinating and performing activities involved with purchasing goods for KMS, playing an integral part of the procure to pay process. This role will support the adherence to purchasing strategies, issuing of purchase orders and ensuring that preferred suppliers are used in compliance with policies and procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Raising Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and converting them to Purchase Orders (POs) in a timely and cost-effective manner
  • Administer the creation of new vendors through set pre-qualification requirements and administer various vendor master data changes and updates
  • Receipt goods and complete Service Sheet Entries
  • Negotiate with suppliers for best price and products
  • Respond and manage inquiries from vendors with regard to outstanding invoices, backorders, and returns
  • Liaising with suppliers and logistics providers for the delivery of materials and spares to the Thunderbird site warehouse
  • Assisting site and office based members with raising requisitions
  • Support the Commercial & Finance team with supply chain activities through sourcing items, placing orders, resolving invoicing issues and running reports as required

 

About You

  • Hold a current WA C-Class driver’s licence
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or a Graduate Certificate in Logistics and Supply Chain Management or relevant experience
  • Minimum 2 years of purchasing / materials or inventory management experience
  • Experience working within a modern P2P system (i.e. SAP experience, preferably SAP Hana S4 (public Cloud))
  • High attention to detail
  • Strong customer service/administrative skills and experience
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders
  • Proficiency in the use of Windows based applications (Excel, Word, Outlook etc.)
